OUR PEOPLE
Russ Stein
Russ has more than 35 years of insurance broking experience. After various roles in the financial service sector, he established the business in 1989. His area of expertise is securing the most favourable life cover and critical illness terms for clients.
Russ’s aviation passion dates back to the mid 80’s when he flew several of the early design microlights. Moving up to heavier aeroplanes, he secured his PPL/A in 1990 at White Waltham & then went on to gain his IR and Multi Engine ratings. However, in recent years he’s rediscovered the joys of microlight flying and the majority of his hours aloft are now flown in a fixed wing EV97 from a farm strip near Swindon. He’s made several epic microlight flights to northern Sweden & Finland & has given talks and written articles about his travels.
Nicki McCormack
Nicki has worked with Russ since the business was formed. She has developed a specialist knowledge in relation to pilot related general insurance solutions. These include cadet and commercial pilot protection products such as loss of class 1 medical insurance to cover training costs or lost income as a commercial pilot. Where required, she also assists in the setting up of policy related trusts. She has flown several times in both light aeroplanes and microlights but, to date, has not been persuaded to take her PPL!
Hana Clerck
Hana joined the firm in 2022 and is our case process manager. She liaises between the insurance company and clients ensuring cases are underwritten quickly & efficiently. She is able to assist with proposal completion and any ongoing underwriting queries. Hana has also built up a comprehensive knowledge in relation to pilot travel and cadet pilot insurance products.

In November 2022 we exhibited at the Pilot Careers Live exhibition at Heathrow Airport. We have a number of bespoke insurance solutions to protect the large investment that an integrated or modular Commercial Pilot Licence course involves. This includes loss of training expenses insurance.

Tax efficient life insurance
Ask SPI for details of relevant life insurance and this potentially highly tax efficient method of covering life insurance premiums. Most of the insurers we work with now offer this type of life insurance. Generally available to Ltd company employees (most often Directors), this can be a very effective way of covering insurance costs.
Fixed wing microlights
For qualified pilots flying less than 50 hours p.a we’ve managed to negotiate standard terms for life insurance and critical illness cover. This product covers the majority of 3 axis aircraft types.
